To help study the breeding ecology of Starlings on Lundy we are colour ringing adults during the core breeding season of April to the end of June. This should allow us to monitor fecundity and site fidelity over time. Unlike on the mainland, Starlings on Lundy frequently raise two broods each season.
Birds are ringed with a metal ring on the left leg and a blue colour ring with a white, three-character inscription, on the right leg. Re-sightings of these birds are most welcome. Please report the colour-ring code, observation date and location to the Bird Observatory Warden or enter the details in the logbook held in the Marisco Tavern.
